The Narragansett turkey is a breed of domestic turkey native to the United States, descended from the cross between wild and domestic turkeys of Meleagris gallopavo silvestris. According to the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy, the Narragansett turkey is an ancient variety unique to North America.
This bird owes its name to Narragansett Bay, New England. The Narragansett turkey is virtually unknown in Europe, where it has never been commercially raised, yet it is among the breeds recognized by the British Poultry Standard.
